Biography
Prof. Giorgia Oliviero received her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2002 at University of Naples Federico II, in Italy. She worked as full-time researcher at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Naples from 2004 to 2016. Nowadays, she is Associate Professor at the School of Medicine and Surgery in Naples. Prof. Oliviero is coordinator of the Organizing Committee of the International Summer School on Natural Products, member of the SYSBIO Centre of Systems Biology, author of more than 90 papers in peer-reviewed journals and external reviewer for research funding programs.
Research Interest
Prof. Oliviero’s scientific interests are in the field of nucleic acids chemistry and biology. Her research is focused on DNA quadruplexes formed by aptamers, telomeres, and synthetic G-rich oligonucleotides. The biological roles played by these structures, as well as their potential application as biosensors or electronic nanodevices are currently investigated.
